A bubble rises on the stream,1
And dances down the tide ;2
Beneath the sun bright colours gleam,3
And glisten on its side.4
What though, before a moment’s past,5
It all must burst in air—6
The little while that it may last,7
The sunshine makes it fair.8
I will not care although my dream9
Be what I ne’er may see ;10
My hope at least can make it seem11
As though it yet might be.12
A little longer, and I know13
It all may pass away ;14
Then, when I must, I’ll let it go,15
But keep it while I may.16
