Figure descriptions
A young girl stands outside and looks up toward an elderly bearded man dressed in
a porter’s uniform. Her arm is splinted and
held in a sling. The bearded man looks down at the girl and extends his right arm
to his side with the palm up; his left arm appears
to have been partially amputated. Behind, a second man limps toward them holding a
cane in each hand and gazing toward the ground.
This man is the speaker in the series. Bushes, ivy, and a tree surround the first
two figures. Buildings are visible behind the
third. Full-page illustration contained within a single-ruled
border.
