Poem signed Hugo C. Laubach. The volume’s contents page identifies Nellie Baxter as the illustrator. Following the poem is another entitled The Fulfilment. In Memoriam H. C. L.—‘Obiit, Dec. 14, 1895,’ which appears to be an elegy for Hugo C. Laubach, author of this poem. According to General Introduction to the Evergreen in Yellow Nineties Online, the Winter volume was published in December 1896. (EF, NM)
