The window is open and the sick girl is
illuminated by an unknown source. Another girl sits in a chair at the foot of the
bed and holds the sick girl’s hands while looking
up toward the ceiling. A dog sits at this girl’s feet and looks up toward the sick
girl’s face. A woman stands at the head of the
sick girl’s bed with her hands clasped together in prayer. She looks down at the girl.
A man sits in the shadows on the other side
of the bed. He bows his head and hides his face in his hand. Food and drink lie on
a small table beside the bed. There are curtains
on either side of the bed. Full-page illustration contained within a single-ruled
border.
