The Last Conflict.
When the last agony draws nigh,1
My spirit sinks in bitter fear :2
Courage ! I conquer though I die,3
For Christ with Death once wrestled here ; 4
Thy strife, O Christ, with Death’s dark power5
Upholds me in this fearful hour.6
In faith I hide myself in Thee,7
I shall not perish in the strife ;8
I share Thy war, Thy victory,9
And Death is swallow’d up in Life ;10
Thy strife, O Christ, with Death of yore11
Hath conquer’d, and I fear no more.12
