Figure descriptions

boys, and girls, all of whom stare at her
in rapt attention. One of the boys sits on the table to get a better view. Polly sits
in front of an open book. She holds a doll in
her left arm and uses her right arm to touch the face of a girl who is seated at her
right. Multiple books sit at the other end of
the table. There is a hearth behind Polly; it is decorated with a clock, a vase, and
two candlesticks. There is a door at the right
side of the room, and a decorative room divider at the left side of the room. Framed
artwork hangs on the walls. Full-page
illustration contained within a single-ruled border.
