Mahammed’s Lament for His Mother, Who Died a Pagan

Figure descriptions
Portrait of a woman and a young girl in a garden. The poem text identifies the figures as a mother and her daughter. The daughter stands on a stone ledge and wraps her arm around her mother, who sits on the ledge behind her. Both figures hold their hand out to a swan that swims in an adjacent pond. There are trees behind them, as well as a decorative stone plinth topped with an urn. A classical woman is engraved onto the façade of the plinth. Full-page illustration with an arched top edge.
