Figure descriptions
A shopkeeper leans over her counter, resting on her elbows. A cross pendant hangs
from her neck. An older man stands across
the counter from her; he holds his hat in his left hand and places an object on the
counter with his right hand. A cloth obscures
the object. There is a chair in front of the counter, on which various objects are
placed. A cloth bag hangs from the back of the
chair and a small cat lies on the seat cushion, playing with a tangle of yarn. Behind
the woman, within the shop, there are books,
cloths, and various boxes stacked on shelves. Cloths hang from the ceiling and in
front of a lattice window. The door to the shop is
