Where’s the way to Jeannie’s house ?1
Any child will guide you ;2
Or ye may find the road yoursel’,3
The river runs beside you.4
Where’s the way to Jeannie’s heart ?5
That I canna answer :6
Hereabout or thereabout,7
Find it if you can, sir.8
Is this the way to Jeannie’s house ?9
As straight as you can go, sir ;10
Down the valley, through the wood,11
And by the brook below, sir.12
What’s the way to Jeannie’s heart ?13
That I canna say, sir ;14
A lang way up, a wee way down,15
In troth, an unco’ way, sir.16
Some on horse, and some on foot,17
Comes hither many a score, sir :18
Wha finds the way to Jeannie’s heart,19
Maun bring a coach and four, sir.20
