Figure descriptions
A man (Iphis) lies on the ground. He holds onto the helm of a sword that has been
pushed through his chest. A crowd of young
women surround him, many of whom look down upon him. A crowned woman walks down a
staircase and towards Iphis’s body. The young
women clear a path for her and bow their heads. There is a large fire pit on the right
side of the foreground; one of the young
women sits on its edge as she observes the scene. 1/2-page illustration contained
within a single-ruled border.
