Clytè

Figure descriptions
A sculptor, identified in the poem text as Phædon, works with a chisel and a hammer on a piece of art. His work in progress depicts two babies, leaves, and grape vines. A life-like statue of a woman stands beside him. The statue’s arms are crossed; she is barefoot with a large cloth draped around her body, exposing one breast. In the background there are more stone carvings. They all feature babies and foliate patterns. 3/4-page illustration contained within a single-ruled border that is curved along the top edge.
