Figure descriptions
Two men, identified in the poem text as a bishop and a warrior-king, stand facing
one another. The bishop stands tall with his
back to the entrance to a building. A crowd of warriors dressed in full armour stand
behind the warrior-king. The warriors hold
swords, axes, spiked maces (or morning stars), and spears; the warriors that hold
swords lift them high in the air. The bishop wears
a robe adorned with crosses and he carries a crozier. 3/4-page illustration contained
within a single-ruled border.
