Unfading Beauty.

He that loves a rosy, cheek,1
Or a coral lip admires,2
Or from star-like eyes doth seek3
Fuel to maintain his fires ;4
As old Time makes these decay5
So his flames must waste away.6
But a smooth and stedfast mind,7
Gentle thoughts and calm desires,8
Hearts with equal love combin’d,9
Kindle never-dying fires :10
Where these are not I despise11
Lovely cheeks, or lips, or eyes.12
