Where?

Tell me where, thou wayworn wanderer,1
Shall a last repose be thine ?2
In the south, where palms are waving ?3
’Neath the lindens by the Rhine ?4
Shall I rest in lone Sahara,5
Sepulchred by stranger hand ?6
Or where bends the coast to seaward,7
Lie beneath the drifting sand ?8
Little recks it—God’s fair Heaven9
Arches o’er me, there as here,10
And by night the stars are gleaming,11
Hung as death-lamps o’er my bier.12
