Illustrator, painter, sculptor, and novelist. Born in Canton, Ohio. Studied at Yale University’s School of the Fine Arts and the Art Students League in New York City. Moved to Montana Territory and painted scenes of Native Americans and settler life in the west. Contributed to Harper’s Monthly, The Century Illustrated, Collier’s, Outing, Boys Life, and Cosmopolitan. Author of the novels Pony Tracks (1895) and Men with the Bark On (1900).
