Professor of Latin at Trinity College, University of Toronto (1906-1912), then at the University of London. Married Eleanor Constance Travell in 1922. Founding Director of the Institute of English Studies, Greece (1938-1939). Served in WW1. Author identified from Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Home Sick, published on 12 February 1898, which lists the author as H. V. Routh, of Peterhouse, Cambridge (NLS Dep 341/371).
