Deaf poet, editor, and journalist. Pseudonym: Howard Glyndon. Née Redden. Educated at St. Louis Missouri Institution for Deaf Mutes. Prolific periodical poet. Assistant editor of St. Louis Presbyterian (1857-1858). Civil War correspondent for St. Louis Republican, then foreign correspondent for the Republican, New York Sun, and New York Times (mainly in France and Italy). Married Edward W. Searing in 1876.
