S published on 13 October 1877, gives the poet’s name as A. C. Shaw and the address as Penryn St, Redruth (NLS Dep 341/371); this is an address known to be associated with Alfred Capel Shaw. Worked at the Birmingham Free Libraries from 1878 to after 1898 (when he was appointed chief librarian). Author of Index to the Shakespeare Memorial Library, Birmingham, as well as several volumes of poetry including The Vision or Erin (1892) and Two Decades of Song (1896).
