Poet, translator, and journalist. Pseudonyms: The Irish Whiskey Drinker, Knight of Innishowen. Son of Thomas Sheehan and Alicia Dunn. Educated at Clongowes Wood College and later Trinity College, Dublin, although he did not graduate. A member of the Comet Club, an Irish literary society that published The Comet, a satirical weekly paper for which Sheehan was a sub-editor. Worked as a barrister and a journalist. Married Ellen Shubrick in 1848. Contributed poetry and sketches to periodicals, including Gentleman’s Magazine and the Dublin University Magazine. Biographical information: DIB. (BGL)
