Poet and philanthropist. Née Huntley. Published as Mrs. Sigourney and L. H. Sigourney. Founded a girls’ school in Norwich in 1811. Advocated for women’s education and Native American rights. Married Charles Sigourney on 16 June 1819. Travelled to England and France in 1840, a trip on which she based Pleasant Memories of Pleasant Lands (1842).
