Poet and bishop of Newfoundland. Educated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford. Ordained in 1819. Worked as a missionary in Newfoundland and Bermuda. Married Eliza Musson c. 1825. Appointed Bishop of Newfoundland in 1839 and Bishop of Jamaica in 1843. Travelled around the Caribbean to British Honduras, the Bahamas, and Cuba. Returned to England in 1855.
