Nikolaus Lenau.Born in Csatád, Hungary, to German parents. Educated at various universities but never finished a degree. Lived in Stuttgart. Suffered from severe mental illness and was institutionalized until his death. Publications include several volumes of poetry, and he is best known for lyric poetry and his unfinished version of the epic poem Don Juan (1851), published posthumously.
