Physician. Born in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. Son of John Stukeley and Frances Bullen. A member of the Royal Society and friends with Isaac Newton. Educated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Lived in London and Lincolnshire intermittently, settling in London in later years. Worked as a physician his whole life, and held various posts in antiquarian, medical, and academic clubs and societies. Married Frances Williamson in 1728, and, following her death, Elizabeth Gale in 1739. Publications include medical textbooks as well as essays and books on antiquarian matters, particularly ancient Celt history. Biographical information: ODNB. (BGL)
