U. Ashworth Taylor.Born in London. Daughter of Sir Henry Taylor, a poet and civil servant, and Theodosia Alice Spring-Rice, daughter of Lord Monteagle. Acquainted with literary and artistic figures including Thomas Carlyle, Charles Dodgson, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Never got married and shared a home in Montpelier Square for thirty years with her sister Ida, where they hosted literary circles.
