Chambers. Born in Edinburgh. Granddaughter of Robert Chambers, founding editor of Chambers’s Journal, and assisted with the journal as a teenager. Moved to London in 1888 and became involved in charity work in the East End. Married Clarens (Clarence) Tweedale on 8 June 1891. Member of the Theosophic Society and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Friends with Helena Blavatsky.
