Poet, wine merchant, and teacher. Alternative signature E. S. Tylee. Born c. 1865 in Bath. Father was John Edward Tylee, wine and spirit merchant, and Edward worked as his assistant (according to the 1891 census) and then a school tutor (by the time of the 1901 census). Admitted to the City of London Lunatic Asylum in Dartford (1911 census). Chambers’s Journal ledger entry for Tylee’s Unforgotten, published on 12 October 1889, lists his address as 3 Northgate St, Bath (NLS Dep 341/370).
