Poet, dramatist, and libertine. Born in Clairac. Educated at the Huguenot académies of Montauban and Saumur. Served as the duc de Candale, but sent to exile in 1619 for writing poetry deemed indecent by the court. Influenced by Montaigne and an advocate of Vanini’s naturalism.
