Poet, novelist, translator, and lawyer. Born in East Farleigh, Kent. Son of Robert Isaac Wilberforce, archdeacon of the East Riding of Yorkshire. Educated at Eton and Trinity College, Oxford. Briefly served in the Royal Navy, worked as a barrister, and acted as Master of the Supreme Court from 1899. Married Fannie Flash in 1860.
