Wilkinson, Charlotte A. M. (F)

Surname: Wilkinson

b. 20 December 1810. d. 2 October 1884. Nationality: English.
Poet and novelist. Pseudonym: C. A. M. W. Née Oddy. Born in London. Father was a merchant. Married William Wilkinson in 1831. Author of Uncle Clive: A Tale (1865), My Sister Dagmar: A Tale (1867), and Wayland Well (1871). Curran associates this pseudonym with Charlotte A. M. Wilkinson, rather than Charles Wooley who is sometimes mistaken as the author behind this pseudonym, but who never in fact existed; see The 'Wellesley Index': Additions and Corrections, Victorian Periodicals Review, vol. 31, 2001, pp. 324-58 (p. 357). Thanks to Troy Bassett for assisting with this record. Biographical information: At the Circulating Library. (AC)
