W. Basil Worsfold. Born in Yorkshire, England. Son of Reverend John Napper Worsfold. Educated at University College, Oxford. Lectured on economics and literature, and briefly served as chief editor of the Johannesburg Star. Married Jessie Symons in 1898. Author of many books on Africa, including The Redemption of Egypt (1899), which features his own illustrations. Contributor to periodicals including Quarterly and Fortnightly.
