Major Victorian novelist and poet. Pseudonym: Currer Bell. Father, Patrick Brontë, was curate at Haworth vicarage in Yorkshire. With her sisters published Poems (1846) pseudonymously. Her experiences at the Clergy Daughters’ School and employment as a governess would later become inspiration for her novel Jane Eyre (1847). Married Arthur Bell Nicholls on 29 June 1854.
