Novelist, poet, and hymn writer. Née Cambridge. Educated by governesses. Married Rev. George Frederick Cross on 25 April 1870, and on 28 May 1870 they emigrated to Victoria, Australia, where Cross was a minister in a succession of parishes. On her husband’s retirement in 1909 they moved back to England. When he died, in 1917, she moved to Melbourne, where she lived until her death.
