Painter, watercolorist, illustrator, and short story writer. Born c. 1831. Based in Notting Hill, London, and Guildford, Surrey. Flourished 1859-1880. Known as Miss Coode. Specialized in figure subjects, vignettes, and decorative initials. Worked as first woman illustrator for Punch under her monogram. Won a Royal Academy exhibition prize in 1867. Author and illustrator of The Strange Story of Eugenia, The Necromancer’s Hand, &c (1885).
