M. F-T.Sister of Christina Catherine Fraser Tytler. Born in Nassick, Bombay Presidency, India, but moved with her family to their home in Scotland two years later. Contributed several illustrations to her sister’s books, such as Sweet Violet and Other Stories (1869). Contributed to Fantastic Stories (1874) by Richard von Volkmann. Educated at the South Kensington Art Training Schools and Slade School of Art. Married George Frederic Watts on 20 November 1886. Travelled to Italy, Germany, Egypt, Constantinople, and Athens. Designed and decorated the Compton cemetery mortuary chapel (1898-1904). Taught local pottery classes until 1934. Helped establish the Compton Potters’ Arts Guild. Director of the the Watts Gallery from 1906, which featured her late husband’s work. President of the Godalming Suffrage Society.
