Poet and translator. Born c. 1856-1860 in Ennis, County Clare. Daughter of Irish poet Arthur Gerald Geoghegan (1810-1889). Prolific periodical poet, including contributions to Time and poetry translations from the Irish in the Irish Monthly (published 1917 to 1925). Chambers’s Journal ledger entries refer to the poet as Miss M. Geoghegan, and list her address as 27 Addison Rd, Kensington, London S. W. (poem published 10 August 1889; NLS Dep 341/370) and 8 St Helens Rd, Hastings (3 February 1894; NLS Dep 341/371). Geoghegan seems to have moved to Hastings from her father’s house in Kensington after his death. Additional biographical information: D. J.
