Poet and fencer. Born in London. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and the Inner Temple. Married Jane Anna Stirk in 1885. First British fencer to complete in the Olympic Games (Paris, 1900) where he won a silver medal at the 1906 Games in Athens. Author of several volumes of poetry including The Golden Hind (1880) and The Viol of Love (1895). Biographical information: John W. Green and Robin A.
