Poet, teacher, lecturer, editor, and Church of England clergyman. Born in Lancashire. Educated at St John’s College, Cambridge. Editor of the Preston Sentinel. Contributed to Preston Pilot. Married Catherine Hartley in 1831. Ordained in 1823. Tutor and lecturer at the theological college St Bees College, Cumberland (1826-1833). Hulsean lecturer at Cambridge (1837-1838).
