Sallie M. Bryan.Née Bryan. Educated at Henry Female College. Married author and diplomat John James Piatt in 1861. Lived in Cork, Ireland, from 1882 to 1893, where her husband served as U.S. consul. Published seventeen poetry volumes, including A Woman’s Poems (1871), That New World and Other Poems (1876), and Child’s World Ballads and Other Poems (1895).
