Figure descriptions
Cleopatra stands holding a chalice and a string of beads and looks down toward a visiting
man. She is dressed extravagantly in
a classical style. Behind Cleopatra, three woman stand in a row, looking toward her.
They are dressed in almost identical fashion.
The women at the exteriors hold a harp and a lute. The room in which they stand is
ornately decorated: Egyptian deities line the
walls and painted pottery stands on a high shelf. A stool behind Cleopatra depicts
mountains and enslaved figures
tied together at the neck. The stool is covered with a leopard or cheetah pelt. In
front of Cleopatra, incense burns on a small
platform. Full-page illustration contained in a single-ruled border.
