By Night.

Glimmer of moonlight upon the river,1
Glistening shimmer of silvery sheen,2
Float from thy fairyland towards me ever3
Message of love from the huntress-queen ;4
Clothing with light the tremulous water,5
Trellised with ripples of baby waves,—6
Laughter of heaven, like that of the daughter7
Of earth, whose beauty my soul enslaves,—8
Artemis’ message, and Aphrodite’s,9
Wooing my heart that was won before,10
A tremor of love thy delicate light is,11
Thy wavelet welcome, my bosom the shore !12
