A Wish

Happy were he could finish forth his fate1
In some unhaunted desert ; where, obscure2
From all society, from love and hate3
Of wordly folk, there should he sleep secure ;4
Then wake again ; and yield god ever praise ;5
Content with hip, with haws, and brambleberry ;6
In contemplation passing still his days,7
And change of holy thoughts to make him merry :8
Who when he dies, his tomb might be the bush9
Where harmless robin resteth with the thrush :10
Happy were he !11
