right, holds up a branch of holly. The
elder girls look into the fire: one girl sits while the other stands behind her. There
is a bearded man in the background who
appears to be sleeping in a canopy bed. Light streams through a window about his bed.
There are dishes, a potted plant, and fire
stoking instruments at the hearth by which the children gather. Full-page illustration
