on a large wooden beam. Wood shavings
fall to the ground around him. In the foreground, a young Christ uses a saw to cut
into a plank of wood. A bird sits on his
shoulder. Christ’s head is contained within a circle, which is suggestive of a halo.
Joseph’s tool bag lies on the ground. Tools and
materials are scattered around the scene: they lean on trees and walls, and hang from
hooks. There is a stone wall and buildings in
the background, and hills in the distance. Full-page illustration contained within
a single-ruled border. The top edge of the frame
is curved.
