I laid me down and slept.1
And I awaked. The long night thro’2
My pulse its rhythm unnconscious kept ;3
Unnconscious breath I drew.4
O Lord, it was not I5
Who wrought this marvel unaware.6
I slept—for Thou, unseen, wast nigh ;7
Awakened—for Thou wast there.8
