right hand and uses his left hand to
shade his eyes as he looks into the distance. There is a hat on the ledge beside him.
Below the man, at the left side of the
illustration, a thorny rose vine wraps itself around an hourglass. The sides of the
hourglass and the curved top edge of the bottom
bulb are darker than the rest of the device; these shaded areas form the initial letter
"W" of the first word of the poem, "Where."
