The Song of the Survivor

Figure descriptions
An elderly man leans forward and rests on his arm on a ledge. He holds a cane in his right hand and uses his left hand to shade his eyes as he looks into the distance. There is a hat on the ledge beside him. Below the man, at the left side of the illustration, a thorny rose vine wraps itself around an hourglass. The sides of the hourglass and the curved top edge of the bottom bulb are darker than the rest of the device; these shaded areas form the initial letter "W" of the first word of the poem, "Where." 1/4 page.
