The Maiden Masque

Figure descriptions
A crowd of men and women gather in a hall. Some figures are identified in the poem text as Danes and others are identified as Irish. A large, old man stands at the center wearing a crown. Next to him, a young woman is wearing a crown of flowers. They hold hands. The old man looks at the young woman but gestures toward another man. The man to whom he gestures holds a goblet up in the air and wears an axe on his hip. Women with veils and floral crowns stand behind the young woman. Men with long hair, beards, and weapons gather behind the two men. Some of the men also raise their goblets in the air. Full page.
