Mother of Florence Margaret Wilson. Author of several poetry volumes including Melancholy Hours (1816), Astarte, a Sicilian Tale, with other Poems (1818), Hours at Home (1826), and The Cypress Wreath (1828). Founded and edited the Weekly Belle Assemblée in 1833, which became in 1834 the New Monthly Belle Assemblée. Considered by the ODNB to be one of the first female biographers.
