Educated at Somerville Hall, Oxford. Worked as a writer from 1885 onwards beginning with contributions to Punch. Also a contributor to Longman’s Magazine, The Magazine of Art, The National Observer, The London Quarterly Review, The Wesleyan-Methodist Magazine, The Occult Review, and The Cornhill Magazine. Publications include the novel That Very Mab (1885) co-written with Andrew Lang, several more novels and prose collections, and the volumes of poetry Dreams to Sell (1887) and Songs from Dreamland (1894).
