Maria Monica.Née Hamilton. Born in Edinburgh but lived mostly in London. Converted to Roman Catholicism later in life. Married Henry S. King on 22 September 1863. Italian nationalist and biographer of Giuseppe Mazzini. Close friends with Emily Hickey and Emily Pfeiffer. Poetry volumes include Aspromonte and Other Poems (1869), The Disciples (1873), A Book of Dreams (1883), Ballads of the North and Other Poems (1889), The Prophecy of Westminster, and Other Poems (1895), The House of the Passion and Other Poems (1902).
