Blanche Lindsay.Née Fitzroy. Married the painter Sir Coutts Lindsay in 1864 and established and funded the Grosvenor Gallery with him, although their separation in 1882 caused the gallery to close. Well connected to many eminent painters and writers, including Edward Burne-Jones and Robert Browning. Publications include Lyrics, and Other Poems (1890), The King’s Last Vigil, and Other Poems (1894), The Flower Seller, and Other Poems (1896), The Apostle of the Ardennes (1899), From a Venetian Balcony, and Other Poems of Venice and the Near Lands (1903). Authored The Art of Poetry with Regard to Women Writers, and read it to the Literature Meeting of the Women’s International Congress in 1899.
